Intermediate Wine Certificate (WSET Level 2) Starting in March 2010 at AOC Fine Wines
The Intermediate Wine Certificate
The 8 classes of 2 hours each culminate in the Intermediate Certificate examination. The WSET certificate is recognized not only everywhere in the US, but also in 50 countries throughout the world. Each year more than 26,000 students around the world take WSET Courses.

The highest qualification attainable with the WSET is the rigorous Diploma. There are currently fewer than 200 Diploma Graduates in the United States.
Objectives
This program enables students to interpret wine and spirits labels, comprehend the fundamentals of wine tasting, become familiar with the world's major wine regions and their principal wines, and share basic advice on wine selection and service, including wine and food pairing.
Students will also learn about viticulture (vineyard management) and vinification (wine making) techniques. The curriculum also includes a session on spirits, including how they are made and their resulting characteristics.
Who should join this class?
The WSET Intermediate Certificate class is open to any wine enthusiasts who wish to enrich their knowledge in a formal class setting.

The course is the ideal starting level for those with little knowledge of wine or those who have in-depth of knowledge regarding particular types of wine but lack a true breadth of knowledge of all the world's wines. No previous wine knowledge is required.
Participants must of course be over 21 years of age.
Instructor
The instructor is Cathi Carroll, DWS (Diploma of Wine & Spirits).

Cathi passed the WSET Advanced Certificate exam with Distinction and holds the WSET Diploma. She also teaches the WSET Intermediate Certificate Course in Connecticut at Norwalk Community College (NCC).

For over fifteen years, Cathy has also taught wine education seminars as part of the Extended Studies Program at NCC.
